Charitable Status Granted
We are delighted to announce that OSCR - Scotland's charity regulator - has accepted our application for charitable status and United Glasgow Football Club is now officially a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with the charity number SCO47338.
As the organisation has expanded over the past few years, it has become increasingly apparent that we needed to restructure our governance to match the increased demand to provide the best sessions that we could, support our volunteers and continue to grow. After lengthy discussions, it was felt that moving towards registering as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation was the best fit for us. We hope that this change will allow us to secure additional funding to continue our work in providing access to sport for all, tackling discrimination and bringing people together.
We'd like to thank you to everyone for your support throughout our first 6 years, we're hoping to go from strength to strength! We have, in the past year, started to develop solid educational sessions and work in partnership with other groups to develop and deliver more participation based sessions alongside our football teams. We'll likely need your support again in the future and you can be sure that anything you contribute will be going towards an organisation that is sustainable and well-governed.
We should also extend a huge thank you to the United Glasgow FC volunteers on one of our subcommittees who have worked tirelessly on improving our governance structures for the past few months. Meeting often in the evening after having worked all day, they've been an invaluable resource and this would not have been possible without them! As such, it's fitting that we received the confirmation of the status on Volunteer Recognition Day!
