After defeat to Crookston seven days previously, a tight affair at Glasgow Green ended with United back to winning ways. Despite Bobby, Scott and Kevin all dropping out the squad, United were bolstered by the return of Evan and Fraser with Monzir overcoming a hamstring strain to join them in the starting XI vs Old Oak Thistle.

Donald was first to cause the Old Oak defence trouble. After a largely forgettable first attempt, he made the second count after latching on to a fine pass from Marc. Donald's first touch set up the ball nicely, his second was an unstoppable half volley into the top left hand corner.

Parity was restored before the end of the first half after an Old Oak set piece was flicked into Fraser's back post.

The second half was a tight affair as both teams pushed for the win. Profligate finishing from Old Oak spared United's blushes more than once as they rocked under early pressure in the second half, but they steadied the ship and slowly grew into the half. Callum escaped a yellow card for a cynical tackle by virtue of being injured. Helped from the pitch by his manager with a suspected twisted knee, he was replaced by China after 65mins.

United's winner came with 15 minutes left. Chris Malone found himself the beneficiary of a scrappy period of play and cut infield with purpose. His left footed attempt was sliced but, as the Old Oak defence failed to clear, Evan had ghosted into the box and was on hand to lash the ball high into the net from close range.

Shots from China and Donald stung the goalkeepers hands but United's points were far from safe when a dubious penalty was awarded against Harry late on. Heroics from Fraser required. Diving to his left the keeper obliged, palming the low shot wide, as United were able to hang on to claim all three points.

United Glasgow 2 - 1 Old Oak Thistle

United XI: Fraser, Gerry, Evan, Kwaby, Scott, Monzir, Chris Malone, Callum (China 65'), Marc, Harry, Donald

Goals: Donald 23', Evan 75'

POTM: Monzir - Returning from injury, Monzir showed United what they've missed recently. Dominating the game from deep in midfield, he won tackle after tackle and his distribution was cool and composed throughout.
