With groups such as Show Racism the Red Card, Kick it Out, FARE and UEFA's own "No To Racism" campaign receiving high levels of televised exposure year by year, it is obvious to even the most determined bigot that racism is clearly unacceptable in both sport and society nowadays. Whilst the fight will never be over completely, the days of overt widespread abuse of the late 1980's seem long gone... but can we say the same about homophobia or transphobia?
February sees Football vs Homophobia's annual "Month of Action" kick off - a campaign to generate awareness that homophobia and transphobia are still prevalent issues in sport and society today, and to encourage more clubs, groups and people to take a stand and challenge this behaviour whenever and wherever it is found.
United Glasgow FC have been immensely proud to support this campaign and will continue do so again for the third year in a row.
Every match report posted here throughout February will have the FvH logo attached as a gesture of our support, and be sure to check back here throughout the month to see features with UGFC players voicing their opinion on the topic.
Be whoever you want to be. Love whoever you want.
