Welcome to #RefugeeFestScot - UGFC STYLE!

United Glasgow Football Club is delighted to be hosting numerous events this weekend to mark 6 years since we were founded but also being part of Refugee Festival Scotland officially for the first time!

On Friday 23rd June, we are hosting a UGFC "Pub Quiz" night hosted by George and Lyall from United Glasgow! The event will take place at Firhill Stadium from 7pm on Friday night. This is one Pub Quiz you don't want to miss! Top prizes include the naming of United Glasgow's official animal mascot, a cash prize of £50, and a crate of beer. Entry donation on the night is a suggested donation of £3 (free if unwaged). Recruit a team, come along to test out your knowledge and help us raise a bit of money for the work we do!

Following that, we will be hosting a United Glasgow Football Festival at the Firhill Complex from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 24th June. We'll be welcoming our friends FC United Survivors of Torture up from Manchester to play an exhibition match for the Alan Henning Memorial Trophy - won by UGFC Men's Development Team in October 2016 in Manchester - as well as playing a team of UGFC Ex Players/Friends of UGFC and a team representing Glasgow's Chinese Community (who have stepped in at the last minute after Hotscots were unable to put together a full squad). Alongside this, we'll have a 5-a-side tournament where we bring community organisations and youth groups together to play football, have fun and find out more about United Glasgow FC and how to stay involved in football with us! We have teams from Saltire Thistle, the Govanhill Youth Project, the Maryhill Integration Network, Refuweegee, Betterthanzero, the Campus Project, the Glasgow Night Shelter, Scottish International Youth and more! While all this is going on, UGFC volunteers will be cooking up a storm on a BBQ which will be pay-what-you-can and we'll have stalls from community organisations and charities all day.

Once everyone has had their fill of BBQ and football, we'll head off to the O2 ABC for a concert to celebrate 6 years of UGFC including King Wine, Twin Mirrors and Capone and the Bullets. Tickets are £5 in advance from members of UGFC, the O2 ABC website or available on the door! Why not come along, have a drink, look at our new merchandise and have a dance - all to help raise a bit of cash to keep football affordable to all!

On Sunday, despite a few inevitable hangovers, we'll head to Toryglen Regional Football Centre to watch the UGFC Women's Team take on Rutherglen Ladies in a match from the SWFL2 west Region. Kick off is at 12pm so why not come along and cheer United on to 3 points?

Finally, UGFC will be celebrating the end of the men's teams season with their annual awards night, hosted at the Rum Shack Glasgow. There will be Caribbean food on the go and a season in review film as well as loads of awards to be handed out!

So, there's lots to get involved with, why not come along and celebrate what it means to be United, on and off the pitch!

United We Stand!
