UGFC Sunday Team - 3
UGFC Development Team - 1
The headlines belonged to Eddie Sung in the GCCL's first United Glasgow derby, as he bagged himself a first half hat-trick which proved the difference between the two sides.
A very strong first half from the Sunday Team was enough to secure victory. They out-passed the Development side and dominated the opening 45mins, during which time Eddie put his name of the score sheet three times!
In an awesome first half display from Sung, after dispatching Calum's lay-off into the bottom corner he was then first to latch on to a loose ball inside the Development box ten minutes later, planting his right-footed shot expertly inside the back post. Two clinical strikes but he saved the best for last - a sublime chip over the helpless LeBatteur from the edge of the box just before half time.
Whatever the Development Team's team talk was at the interval it seemed to work - they came out swinging in the second half and did themselves proud with Stephen, Adam and Ahmed excelling in particular.
Surprise substitute Paul Georgie came off the bench and made his Development Team debut . He was offered the opportunity to make it a dream debut from 12 yards on the hour mark after Kieran Manchip was felled in the box.
His calmly taken penalty sent Capuano the wrong way and was token of a promising second half display for the team who showed enough fight to cause Sunday Team manager, Neil, some anxiety towards the end.
