With no competitive matches since June 26th, it’s been a long time coming but UNITED GLASGOW FC ARE BACK IN ACTION!
All four of our teams will play in competitive games this weekend across the West of Scotland Amateur Football League, the Glasgow Community and Co-Operative League and the Scottish Women’s Football League Division 2 South West/West.
First up, the Men’s Saturday Team face off against new opponents in South Lochaber Thistle who’ll travel down to Glasgow for their first competitive game. United will be aiming to make sure that Thistle don’t return north with points to show for it! The game is a 2pm kick off at Glasgow Green Football Centre.
On Sunday, both of our teams playing in the Glasgow Community and Co-Operative League kick off their campaigns in the Show Racism the Red Card League Cup with 12pm kick offs. The Men’s Sunday Team will play Glasgow St Pauli, a constant thorn in their side last season, at Springburn Park Synthetic Pitch and looking to get some payback for defeats last season. Meanwhile, over at Nethercraigs, the Men’s Development team, complete with loads of new players, will take on Southside United. The last times the teams met it finished 3-1 to Southside, can United add to their only victory of last season this time?
Later in the afternoon, the Women’s team travel to Dumbarton to play against Dumbarton United in a 4pm kick off at East End Park Recreation Ground. Their first game since a 2-0 victory over Stranraer on June 26th, United are looking to go one better than the 3-3 draw with Dumbarton United earlier in the season.
